What is the TNTET Exam?

TNTET is the Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test which is conducted once a year by the Teacher’s recruitment board (TRC) of Tamil Nadu. TNTET is a state-level examination for the recruitment of teachers in different government schools as well as in private schools of Tamil Nadu.

This examination is conducted to check the eligibility of a candidate to become a teacher in primary and secondary classes. The TNTET exam is conducted in offline mode and candidates are required to answer 150 multiple-choice questions.

TNTET Eligibility Criteria 2022:-

Any candidate can apply for the examination but if the candidate cannot fulfil the eligibility criteria for the examination they might not be considered as qualified, so the candidate should check eligibility criteria carefully before applying.

  • The candidate should be an Indian citizen or residing in India.
  • The age limit for the candidates applying for TNTET 2022 should be between 18 Years to 40 Years. For SC, ST, and OBC candidates the relaxation in the upper age limit is 5 Years.

TNTET Educational Qualification for Paper I (Classes 1 to 5):-

To appear for the TNTET 2022, the candidate should have to fulfil any of the given educational combinations.

  • The candidate must have passed a senior secondary certificate with at least 45% minimum marks and passed or appearing for the final year of 2-Year diploma in elementary education approved by NCTE regulations 2002.
  • The candidates should have passed higher secondary with 50% marks and passed or appearing in 2-year diploma in Elementary education.
  • The candidate should have passed higher secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in elementary education (B.El.Ed.).
  • The candidate must have completed or been in the final year of a four-year diploma in education or special education and have received at least 50 per cent of the marks in Higher Secondary or equivalent.
  • The candidate must have completed high school and passed or be in the last year of a two-year elementary education diploma programme.
  • The candidate should have passed graduation with 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the bachelor of education B.Ed.

TNTET Educational Qualification for Paper-II (Classes 6 to 8):-

The candidate should fulfil any of the given educational combinations:

  • The candidate should graduate and pass or appearing for the final year of a 2-year diploma in elementary education.
  • The candidate should graduate with at least 50% marks and pass or appearing in the final year of B.Ed.
  • The candidate should graduate with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of B.Ed. as per the NCTE regulations.
  • The candidate should have passed higher secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.El.Ed.
  • The candidate should have passed higher secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A./B.Sc. Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc. Ed.
  • The candidate should have done graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of B.Ed. (Special Education).
  • Any candidate who has qualified B.Ed. recognized by NCTE is eligible to appear in TET.

TNTET Application Fees 2022:-

The application fees for the TNTET 2022 are Rs. 500/- for general category candidates and Rs 250/- for reserved (SC, ST, PWD) category candidates. The application fees can be paid through E-challan or online.

TNTET Admit Card 2022:-

The Admit Card for TNTET can be downloaded from the official website. The admit cards for the TNTET examination will be available 10 days before the examination date. Before downloading the admit card, verify all the information present in the Admit card. To appear for the examination aspirants, have to carry one photo ID along with the admit card.

TNTET Exam Pattern 2022:-

The TNTET Exam consists of two papers, paper one is for candidates appearing for Primary Level teaching positions and Paper two is for students appearing for Middle-level teaching positions. All the questions asked will be based on the syllabus prescribed by the exam conducting body.

TNTET Results 2022:-

The result is announced in an online mode for both papers. One can check the result on the official website using login credentials. The candidates from the General category should score 60% marks are considered qualified while reserved category candidates should have to obtain 55% marks to qualify for the examination.

The TNTET examination will issue the candidate with a TNTET Qualification Certificate. This certificate is valid for the lifetime. Please note that mere holding of a TET certificate does not grant any right to appoint as a teacher as this fulfils the only one eligibility criteria among many others.

TNTET 2022- Expected cut-offs:-

The cut-off marks are the marks obtained by the candidate to clear the exam and move ahead for the further evaluation process to achieve their aim. The last year’s cut-off marks are not available as the exams are postponed due to the covid 19 pandemic.

The cut off differs each year. In general, the cut-off marks depend upon various factors like difficulty level of question paper, number of candidates, and number of vacancies available. The minimum qualifying marks is given below:

The result for the TNTET will be announced after 40 days of the examination date. Successful candidates will be invited for the interview and awarded certificates. The candidates invited for Interviews are judged by the exam authority on their performance in the exam as well as in the interview, The shortlisted candidates who perform well in both Interviews and written exams will be appointed as Government Teachers in the Tamil Nadu schools
