PSTET Exam Dates, Syllabus & More 2022

PSTET stands for Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test which commenced every year by State Council of Educational Research and Training. The application form will be released in December. There are two papers in the PSTET exam: PSTET – I and PSTET – II. The duration of the exam is 180 minutes. Candidates are required to check their eligibility before applying.

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) conducts the PSTET or the Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test for candidates who want to be teachers of primary and upper classes of schools in Punjab.

What is PSTET Exam?: Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) is a state-level exam conducted by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) to determine the eligibility of candidates for Primary (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6-8) level teachers in the schools of Punjab.

The PSTET exam is conducted in two shifts for two papers – Paper 1 and 2. PSTET Paper 1 is conducted for candidates who want to become Classes 1-5 teachers and Paper 2 is for candidates who want to become teachers of Classes 6-8. Candidates who want to become Classes 1-8 teachers need to appear for both papers.

PSTET Notification 2022:-

The notification for the PSTET 2022 will be tentatively announced in the month of September 2022. The official notification is expected to be released on the official website of the Punjab School Education Board.

The PSTET notification is an important document whose aim is to make the aspirants wary of the process of the examination and registration. The document consists of important information pertaining to the dates of the exam, the pattern of the same, the syllabus, and guidelines for the exam.

PSTET Eligibility Criteria 2022:-

Before filling out the application form, candidates should read the PSTET eligibility criteria. Different Papers have different eligibility criteria, which are stated below.

The candidate has to be older than the age of 18 for applying for the PSTET exam.

PSTET Educational Qualifications 2022

The educational qualifications are given below:

Primary Teachers (Class I to V):

  1. Senior Secondary (or the equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  2. Senior Secondary (or the equivalent) with a minimum of 45% marks or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  3. Senior Secondary (or the equivalent) with a minimum of 45% marks or appearing in the final year of a four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  4. Senior Secondary (or the equivalent) with a minimum of 45% marks or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  5. Completed graduation or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Upper Primary Teachers (Class VI to XII):

  1. Graduation or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in one-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  3. Graduation with at least 45% marks or passed or appearing in one-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations that are issued from time to time in this regard.
  4. Senior Secondary (or the equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks or appearing in the final year of a four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  5. Senior Secondary (or the equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the four-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  6. Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in one-year B.Ed (Special Education).

Points to be noted:

  1. There will be relaxations granted up to five within the marks required for qualifying within the academic qualification for eligibility to use will be allowed to the candidates of reserved classes (SC/ST/OBC/PWD).
  2. Provisional admission is granted to those applicants who are appearing in their final year of their Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education. Their PSTET certificates will be valid only after they get their degrees.

PSTET Application Process 2022:-

The application form can be fulfilled by the candidates who have met the eligibility requirements. The candidates need to follow the following steps for registration for the exam.

Step 1: Go to the official website.

Step 2: Select the “New Registration and Applicant Login” on the homepage.

Step 3: Click on the registration link to register yourself. The candidate will be redirected to a new page

Step 4: Candidates need to click on the ‘proceed’ option and enter the details asked.

Step 5: After clicking on the ‘Register Me’ option, the candidate will be redirected to a new page that will have the login details.

Step 6: Enter login credentials on the new page that will appear.

Step 7: After login, the candidate needs to enter details such as the name, email ID, etc.

Step 8: Upload signature and photo after entering the necessary details.

Step 9: Make the payment for the registration.

Step 10: After all the processes have been carried out. Click on ‘Submit’.

PSTET Admit Card 2022:-

The steps to download the admit card for PSTET 2022 are as follows:

Step 1: Visit the official website of Education Punjab Board.

Step 2: A link will appear for downloading the admit card.

Step 3: Candidates will have to enter their PSTET registration number.

Step 4: Press ‘Enter’ to get the admit card.

Step 5: Download and print the same.

PSTET Exam Pattern 2022:-

The PSTET exam 2022 will be held on two papers: Paper – I and Paper II. The exam will be held offline and each paper will contain 150 questions based on multiple-choice. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer and questions not attempted will fetch no marks. Incorrect answers also fetch no negative marks.

PSTET Answer Key 2022:-

Through the answer key, the candidates can calculate how many marks they will hopefully get in the exam. The answer key will be released on the official website of the examination. After the release of the answer key, if the candidates have any objections, they can raise them. The details of the answer key are updated after the release of the notification.

PSTET Result 2022:-

The results for the PSTET 2022 exam are yet to be announced. The candidates can check the result on the official website of the PSTET exam. Securing a minimum percentage of 60% in PSTET is mandatory for the candidates in order to qualify for the exam. A relaxation of 5% is granted to candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC categories.

PSTET Cutoff 2022:-

All the candidates who succeeded in scoring the minimum marks will be summoned for the next round of selection. The cutoff on the basis of the categories is given in the following table:

PSTET Salary 2022:-

The candidates who have qualified for the PSTET will get salary in the range of INR 10,200-34,800+4,000.

The validity period for the CTET qualification certificate is going to be seven years. The candidate can take the CTET Certificate number of times and there is no restriction.

  • The CTET net salary offered to the qualified candidates is in the range of Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 45,000, which includes the House Rent Allowance (HRA).
  • Candidates who have completed their B.Ed. and D.Ed. degrees from around the country have to attempt for the CTET Exam in order to gain a stable job as a teacher in any of the government schools. The salary of these teachers is around Rs. 35,000 per month and it increases as and when they get permanent.
  • The candidates are eligible for teaching throughout the country.

As per the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the CTET Exam 2022 will be conducted.

There may be some changes in the conduct of the examination. A detailed assessment framework for the CTET exam will be released soon by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
