Delhi Teachers University Bill introduced to build a world-class teachers’ training university in Delhi

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and education minister Manish Sisodia introduced the Delhi Teachers University Bill on Monday in order to build a world-class teachers’ training university offering programmes like BA-BEd and BSc-BEd. Presenting the university bill, Sisodia said that in the last seven years, the Aam Aadmi Party government has taken historic decisions. In which 25 percent of the budget is also included for the education sector. It is known that the government is preparing to start admission in this university. In this, admissions are to be taken on five thousand seats.
Sisodia said that we are doing this considering education as the most basic requirement. In the House, he said that most of the credit for the education revolution goes to the teachers. Sisodia further said that students in this university will be given an opportunity to engage with teachers from across the world during conferences and interactive sessions. It is known that on January 1, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia had also visited the under-construction campus of Delhi Teachers University in Bakkarwala.
The deputy chief minister said that there were talented teachers in the country but there was a dearth of training institutes.
Presenting the figures further, Sisodia said that there was a shortage of teachers in 3 lakh schools, and a shortage of about 11 lakh teachers in the entire country.
“The Delhi Teachers University will work to fill this gap and every year, thousands of professional teachers will emerge from here who will work to strengthen the education system,” the deputy CM said.
He said that the number of seats in Delhi Teachers University would be increased every year keeping in view the needs of the teachers.
In the context of Delhi, he said that the Delhi government had constructed thousands of new classrooms in the last few years and created posts for about 15 thousand teachers.
Delhi Teachers University will be spread over 12 acres of land
He had asked the officials to expedite the construction work so that the session could be started at the earliest. To create a new generation of teachers, this university will have courses like BA-BEd and BSc-BEd. Delhi Teachers University will be spread over 12 acres of land. It will also have lecture halls, digital labs and a library with world-class facilities. Students aspiring to become teachers in the university will be given high facilities along with global exposure.
