Advertisement for the post of Principal, Anushruti Academy for the Deaf Located in IIT Roorkee campus, Anushruti Academy for the Deaf (AAD) is a special school exclusively for the Hearing Impaired (HI) children.
Master’s degree from recognized university in any discipline with at least 55% marks (50% for OBC, SC & ST candidates) at graduate or PG level; and B. Ed. Special Education (HI) with at least 15 years’ experience of teaching deaf students at different grade levels along with some administrative experience OR M. Ed. Special Education (HI)/ Ph.D with at least 12 years’ experience of teaching deaf students at different grade levels along with some administrative experience. OR BASLP and B. Ed. Special Education (HI) with at least 15 years of total experience of which at least 6 years of teaching deaf students at different grade levels along with some administrative experience. OR MASLP, or equivalent, and B. Ed. Special Education (HI) with at least 12 years of total experience of which at least 6 years of teaching deaf students at different grade levels along with some administrative experience.
The candidate should have an experience of being a Principal /Vice Principal / administrator in a school or college dealing with HI students.
Desirable Qualifications:-
a) Excellent written and spoken skills in Hindi and English language.
b) Computer and IT skills including emailing and use of online platforms for teaching and j) Adequate professional knowledge in student assessment, classroom management, lesson planning, vocational training. Communication.
c) Knowledge of Indian sign language.
d) Evidence of Research experience in the area of deafness and deaf education.
e) Keen interest in initiating new vocational and research projects.
f) Awareness of new trends in Deaf Education.
g) Having excellent inter-personal skills, communication skills and pleasant personality.
h) Caring, compassionate and dedication towards deaf children and the Academy.
i) Administrative, managerial and organizational skills including conducting of meetings.
j) Adequate professional knowledge in student assessment, classroom management, lesson planning, vocational training.
k) Knowledge of Hearing Assessment techniques and preparation of teaching aids, assistive devices, useful material for the HI children including IEP, pamphlets and books.
l) Knowledge and experience in planning, budgeting, account keeping, curriculum development, fund raising, parent counselling and public education.
m) Capability of documentation and record keeping.
n) Leadership qualities and HR management.
Important Note:-
(1) The school committee reserves the right to make modifications in/ deviations from the above said qualifications and requirements if a candidate is found suitable on some other grounds.
(2) AAD is a social initiative of IIT Roorkee. It imparts education to HI students till class 12. The school is managed by a committee of faculty members of IIT Roorkee but it is a Charitable Community-Based Project and is financially dependent upon the contributions received from individuals and institutions. Hence, the above advertised job is a private one and not that of IIT Roorkee.
Selection Procedure:-
The shortlisted candidates will be required to present themselves in person for the interview, including a written test and a presentation (e.g. power-point presentation) at AAD, IIT Roorkee.
