1. Name of the Post: Associate Professor

Academic Level in the Pay Matrix: Level -13A of 7th CPC, (131400-217100) Entry Pay 131400/-

Qualifications:

(i) A good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/ relevant disciplines.

(ii) A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale, wherever grading system is followed)

(iii) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in and academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/Industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals.

a) For Associate Professor, Iqbal Institute of Culture and Philosophy In addition of other eligibility conditions as reflected in “B” above, qualification for the shall be as under:-

i) Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in Urdu/Persian/Arabic/Islamic Studies/Philosophy.

ii) A Master’s Degree in Urdu/Persian/Arabic/Islamic Studies/ Philosophy with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

iii) Published Research work of good quality on any aspect of Iqbal studies

b) (Social Science/ Languages, Centre for Sheikh-ulAalam Studies In addition of other eligibility conditions as reflected in “A” & “B” above respectively, qualification for post the shall be as under:

i) Good academic record with a Ph.D Degree in any discipline of Social Sciences / Languages.

ii) A Master’s Degree in any of the disciplines of Social Sciences or Languages with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).

iii) Published Research work of good quality on any aspect of Kashmiri Culture, History, Religion or Philosophy, preferably relevant to Reshi Movement/ Spiritual tradition/identity of Kashmir.

c) Associate Professor in the disciplines of Engineering/Technology, Management, Pharmaceutical Science & Computer Sciences:

i. Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and First class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant branch AND

ii. At least total 6 research publications in SCI journals / UGC / AICTE approved list of journals. AND

iii. Minimum of 8 years of experience in teaching / research / industry out of which at least 2 years shall be Post Ph.D. experience.

d) Associate Professor in the disciplines of Teacher Education

i. Postgraduate degree with 55% marks in the discipline relevant to the area of specialization.

ii. Postgraduate degree in Education (M.Ed./M.A. Education) with minimum 55% marks.

iii. Ph.D. degree in Education or in the discipline relevant to the area of specialization.

iv. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in and academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/Industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals.

Qualifications:

a) For the post of Professor unless mention elsewhere in this Advertisement:

i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualifications(s) in the concerned/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 research publications in the peer-reviewed UGC listed journals.

ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National level institutions with evidence of having successful guided doctoral candidate. OR An outstanding professional having Ph.D. degree in the relevant/applied discipline, from any academic institution (not included in A above)/ industry, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he/she has ten years’ experience.

b) (Social Science/ Languages, Centre for Sheikh-ulAalam Studies In addition of other eligibility conditions as reflected in “A” & “B” above respectively, qualification for post the shall be as under:

i) Good academic record with a Ph.D Degree in any discipline of Social Sciences / Languages.

ii) A Master’s Degree in any of the disciplines of Social Sciences or Languages with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).

iii) Published Research work of good quality on any aspect of Kashmiri Culture, History, Religion or Philosophy, preferably relevant to Reshi Movement/ Spiritual tradition/identity of Kashmir.

c) For Professor Life Long Learning In addition of other eligibility conditions as reflected under “A” above, qualification for the shall be as under:

i) Good academic record with a Ph.D Degree in any discipline of Social Sciences.

ii) A Master’s Degree in any of the disciplines of Social Sciences with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).

iii) Published Research work of good quality on any aspect of distance education, life long learning, e-learning etc.

d) Professor in the disciplines of Engineering/Technology, Management, Pharmaceutical Science and Computer Sciences:

i. Ph. D. degree in relevant field and First class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant branch. AND

ii. Minimum of 10 years of experience in teaching / research / industry out of which at least 3 years shall be at a post equivalent to that of an Associate Professor. AND

iii. At least 6 research publications at the level of Associate Professor in SCI journals / UGC /AICTE approved list of journals and at least 2 successful Ph.D. guided as Supervisor / Co-supervisor till the date of eligibility of promotion. OR At least 10 research publications at the level of Associate Professor in SCI journals / UGC /AICTE approved list of journals till the date of eligibility of promotion.

Other Conditions:

a. For the post of Professor, the candidates shall be required to have a total Academic/ Research score of one hundred & twenty (120) and for the post of Associate Professor, a total Academic/ Research score of Seventy five (75) shall be required as per the criteria given, Table 2 of UGC Guidelines, July, 2018.

b. Any publications in predatory/dubious journals or presentations in predatory/dubious conferences shall not be considered for academic credit for selection and confirmation. With effect from 14.6.2019, research publications from journals indexed in UGC-CARE List only would be considered for all academic purposes.

c. Each API score must be supported by the documentary evidence in the Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) Proforma, without which no claim on account of Academic/ Research Score will be entertained. It is mandatory that the candidate mark Page No./s on all the supporting documents as in the Application Form.

d. The details with regard to ISSN/ISBN, sole author/Coauthors/Joint publication, refereed/non-refereed/ indexed/ non-indexed and local/ national/ international status etc. must also be reflected in the publication part of PBAS proforma supported by documentary evidence.

e. Candidates who have been awarded post graduate/Ph.D. degree from Foreign University should enclose “Equivalence Certificate” issued by Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi without which their candidature will not be considered and application form will be rejected.

f. Terms and conditions of appointment of the candidates shall be governed by the provisions of the Kashmir & Jammu Universities Act, 1969, and Statutes & Regulations made there under from time to time, University Grants Commission and the Union Ministry of Education, wherever applicable.

g. Where the University does not have its own service rules, those prescribed by the Government of the UT for its employees are, mutatis mutandis, applicable to the University employees also.

h. Only those candidates should apply for the posts, who fulfill the eligibility criteria on or before the last date of receipt of applications.

i. The University reserves the right not to fill up any of the vacancies advertised, if circumstances so warrant, without assigning any reason thereof.

j. The number of vacancies indicated in Advertisement notice is tentative. The University reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of posts at the time of Selection.

k. Candidates selected for appointment will be placed on probation for one or two years as per recommendations of the Selection Committee.

l. If any candidate who has applied for the Post/s of Professor and or/Associate Professor, is not found suitable for the said post/s by the Selection Committee, he/she may be offered the position lower than the advertised one/s, as the case may be provided he/she accepts the said offer and fulfils all the eligibility conditions laid down for the said lower position. Under such circumstances, the higher position against which the said incumbent is being offered appointment shall not be filled until the same is vacated by the appointee.

m. In addition to pay bands, D.A. as admissible under rules is also payable to the appointees. Medical Allowance as prescribed by the UT Government for its employees is admissible to the University Employees which, at present, is paid at a uniform rate of Rs 300/- p.m. besides coverage under J&K Civil Service Medical (Attendance) Rules 1990, amended from time to time. City Compensatory Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Children Education Allowance (if applicable) are also paid to the University employees as is being paid to the J&K UT Govt. Employees. Limited residential accommodation at the University Campuses is available which is allotted on first come first service basis, under rules. Children Education Allowances, if permissible, are also paid to the University Employees as per the UT Rules.

n. Canvassing in any form by or on behalf of the candidate will be a disqualification.

o. Impersonation or submission of false/fabricated/tampered documents or making incorrect/false statements by a candidate, will, in addition to debarring him/her permanently or for a specific period from any employment in the University and also render him/her liable for criminal prosecution.

p. The candidates shall have to produce the original documents relating to their age, qualifications, experience, fitness and other claims whatsoever at the time of interview. The selected candidates shall also be required to produce the said documents before joining the post to which they are appointed.

q. No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates for appearing in the interview.

r. The candidates are advised to write their name strictly as per Matriculation/Higher Secondary Certificates.

s. Department boundaries for these posts will not confine the applicant to teach/carry research in the Department/Centre/Campus only and they may be required to take up teaching/research/other assignments in other Departments/ Institutes/ Centres/ Campuses of the University as well.

General Instructions:

1. Applications by Government servants should be sent through the Administrative Authority concerned. In the case of the University Teachers/Employees, through the Registrar of their respective University and in the case of persons employed in the private firms and Institutions through the Head of the firm/institutions concerned. Applications Not Routed Through The Respective Channels Are Liable To Be Rejected. However such candidates are advised not to wait for the last date and an advance copy may be sent at the earliest followed by application through proper channel.

2. Applications received late or on plain paper or incomplete in any respect shall not be entertained.

4. The interview call letters shall be sent under Speed/Registered post. Candidates shall also be informed through E-mail/SMS registered at the time of Registration. However, the University shall not be responsible for any postal delay, whatsoever or non-delivery of Email/SMS due to technical or any other issues.

5. All enclosures attached with the Application Form should be self attested and attached in the same order as of the Serial Number generated against each entry. Incomplete Application Forms and without enclosures shall be rejected.

6. The University shall verify the antecedents of all documents of the candidates submitted at any time of appointment or during the tenure of service. In case, it is detected that the documents submitted are fake or the candidate has a clandestine antecedents/background and has suppressed the said information, his/her services shall be terminated forthwith and the action shall be taken as warranted under rules.

7. Candidates who have applied against any of the above mentioned post, not filled in due to one or the other reason, in response to our earlier notification dated 26-12-2016, shall have to apply afresh as per the eligibility reflected above. However, these candidates are exempted for payment of Application fee by giving reference to earlier application in writing alongwith the details about the fee paid. In absence of any evidence of the fee already paid, the applicant/s shall be required to pay fees again.

8. Addendum/ corrigendum, if issued, to this advertisement shall be uploaded on the university website only.
