1. Position: Associate Professor (E), Level 12 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix
2. Number of positions: Total 7 (Seven) positions with the following break up in four sub-areas
a. Theoretical Physics: 2 (Two) posts.
b. Experimental Nuclear Physics: 2 (Two) posts.
c. Experimental Condensed Matter and Surface Physics, Material Science: 2 (Two) posts.
d. Biophysical Sciences: 1 (One) post.
3. Essential Qualifications:
i) Ph.D. degree.
ii) Minimum 2 (Two) years of post-doctoral research experience with recognition amongst scientists in his/her area of specialization by virtue of the merit of his/her publications.
4. Desirable Qualifications: Ability of guiding research of junior workers, ability to communicate and interact with other scientists and flexibility of outlook and attitude to take independent charge of sub areas belonging to a major project or broad areas of research of the Institute
5. Pay on Initial Appointment:
Pay fixation in the given Level on initial appointment will be as per the GOI rules. Based on the performance in the interview or special qualification or experience, a candidate selected for appointment in a particular post with pay fixation at appropriate level may be given advance increments up to a maximum of 5 (five) increments, as per the explicit recommendations of the Selection Committee and approval of the appointing authority

Selection Procedure :
1. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of their merits, national and international recognitions and suitability based on the functional needs of the Institute.
2. Following an initial screening that identifies strong applications, independent inputs regarding these may be sought from national and international experts in the respective fields.
3. Such applicants may be asked to give seminars and interact with the faculty members (in-person or through video conference).
4. The Selection Committee shall interview the shortlisted candidates in person or through video conference on the date of interview. The Selection Committees shall assess the suitability of the applicants and make appropriate recommendations for recruitment of the candidates.

1. Signed cover letter indicating the research area in which the application is being made.
2. Curriculum Vitae with full list of publications. The list should clearly separate publications in journals from those in conference proceedings.
3. Research experience (up to two pages) indicating any academic leadership/independence.
4. References of five selected publications, explaining their importance and the role of the candidate in those publications.
5. Research plan (maximum two pages). For applicants in experimental areas, plan should also include the requirements for laboratory space and equipment. Applicants are strongly urged to look at the list of equipment already available in SINP ( c ondensed m atter p hysics, e xperimental n uclear p hysics and b iophysical s ciences) and indicate the ones that they would be planning to use in their proposed research.
6. Statement of teaching experience (The selected candidates are expected to be involved in the teaching programme of SINP, which is a Constituent Institution of HBNI, Mumbai.)
