1. Acharya/Master’s Degree in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent.
2. Notwithstanding anything contained in UGC Regulations in its sub —clauses (i) and (ii) to the Clause 4.4. I, candidates, who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standard and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations – 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
i. Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisipn*vof the then existing Ordinances/Bye-Iaws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to ihe fulfilment of the following conditions :-
a) The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;
b) The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;
c) An open Ph.D. Viva Voce of the candidate has been conducted;
d) The Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal;
e) The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D work in conferences /seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC / ICSSR/ CSIR or any similar agency. The fulfilment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned. OR
B. The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following:
(i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
(ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or
(iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).
3. Ability to teach through the medium of Sanskrit is essential (for Navya Vyakaran & Veda Subject post).
4. A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the Graduate and Master’s level for the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes / Differently Able (Physically and Visually differently able) / Other Backward Classes (OBC/SEBC) (Non-Creamy layer) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic records during different recruitment to teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace marks.
5. The minimum qualifications for the Posts of Assistant Professor are as expressed by the UGC Gazettes, Notifications and G. R. of Govt. Of Gujarat, Shree Somnath Sanskrit University rules and subsequent amendments made therein. In case of the Hon’ble Court matter, the judgement of the Hon’ble Court shall be final and shall binding for the candidate/s appointed on the post.
6. Any dispute regarding the recruitment will fall under the jurisdiction of Veraval (Gir Somnath), Gujarat state only.
7. A relaxation of 5% marks may be provided from 55% to 50% marks to the Ph.D. degree holder who have obtained their Degree prior to 19 Septelllber, 1991 for all those positions governed by the UGC regulations. Application Forms can be downloaded form the University website www.sssu.ac.in.
8. Candidates applying for the post of an Assistant Professor have to fill-in required information in the prescribed application form along with research & academic contributions with supporting documents, certificates etc. It is compulsory to submit the hard copy (IN THREE COPIES) of an Application Form without which the applicätion shall not be considered.
9. Out of three copies one copy shall be original and other two copies can be its photocopies [Xerox. Ifthe space against any item is insufficient, separate sheet may be used.
10. The fees for application is non-refundable.
11. The applicant should ensure that the application is submitted to the University through R.P.A.D. / Speed Post only so as to reach the Registrar, Shree Somnath Sanskrit University, Rajendra Bhuvan Road, VERAVAL – 362 266 on or before the due date.
12. Candidate if invited for an interview will have to attend ai his/her own expense. No TA/DA shall be paid.
13. The period of time taken by the candidates to acquire M.Phil and/or Ph.D. shall not be considered as Teaching/Research Experience to be claimed for the appointment to the teaching positions. However “the period of active service spent on pursuing Research Degree i.e. for acquiring Ph.D degree simultaneously without taking any kind of leave may be counted as teaching experience for the purpose of direct recruitment/promotion to the post of Associate Professor and above.”
