Role Overview:

The Centre for Advanced Computing and Artificial Intelligence (CACAI) at NAMTECH is envisioned as a hub of excellence for innovation, research, and application in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Science, and High-Performance Computing (HPC).

The Director (or Program Director) will provide strategic and academic leadership, fostering impactful collaboration between academia and industry, and advancing NAMTECH’s vision for applied, interdisciplinary education and research.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Academic Leadership

  • Design and lead academic and research programs in AI, ML, Data Science, and Advanced Computing.

  • Develop partnerships with industry, academia, and government agencies for joint research and funding.

  • Define and execute the Centre’s strategic roadmap in alignment with NAMTECH’s institutional mission.

Research & Innovation

  • Drive high-impact research in Generative AI, Edge Computing, Applied ML, and Big Data Analytics.

  • Mentor faculty, researchers, and students in project execution and grant proposals.

  • Establish and oversee AI labs, computing clusters, and simulation facilities.

Teaching & Mentorship

  • Deliver advanced courses and workshops in AI, ML, and Computing.

  • Guide students and faculty in applied research and innovation initiatives.

  • Promote interdisciplinary applications of AI in manufacturing, robotics, materials science, and sustainability.

Institutional & Industry Engagement

  • Represent NAMTECH at national and international AI forums and conferences.

  • Build collaborations with tech companies, startups, and R&D institutions.

  • Foster innovation and commercialization through the NAMTECH Innovation & Entrepreneurship Cell.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Ph.D. (or Master’s with significant applied experience) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or related field.

  • 10–20 years of experience in academia, applied research, or R&D leadership.

  • Proven research track record with publications, patents, or funded projects in AI or computing.

  • Demonstrated success in establishing or managing research centers or academia–industry collaborations.

  • Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, R, and Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP); experience with HPC systems preferred.
