Indian Institute of Mass Communication Recruitment – Associate Professor and Assistant Professor Vacancies

                Indian Institute of Mass Communication, established in 1965 by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, is a premier Institute of mass communication education, research and training. It has its main campus in New Delhi and Regional Campuses in Aizawl (Mizoram), Amravati (Maharashtra), Dhenkanal (Odisha), Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir) and Kottayam (Kerala).

                IIMC invites applications for faculty positions in Mass Communication at various levels with broad specialization in Journalism Studies, Broadcast Journalism, Oral & Visual Communication, Political Communication, New Media, ICT, Data Journalism, Integrated Marketing Communication, Media Laws & Regulations, Health Communication, Science Communication, Communication Research, Training Pedagogy, Publications/ Graphics/ Design etc.

                The selected candidates could be posted either at IIMC’s main Campus in New Delhi or in any of its Regional Campus as mentioned above.

• Associate Professor:-

Eligibility:–

• A good academic record, with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
•  A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed).
• A minimum of EIGHT years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry with a minimum of SEVEN publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of Seventy Five (75) as per the criteria given in Appendix II, Table 2 of UGC Regulations 2018.

• Assistant Professor:

Eligibility: (A or B)

 A.

• A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited Foreign University.
• Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET

OR

• who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET :

Provided:-

The candidates registered for the Ph.D. programmer prior to July 11, 2019, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions :

                 a. The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode ;

                 b. The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;

                c. An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;

                d. The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a referred journal;

                 e. The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D. work in conference/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or any similar agency.

 Note : NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmers in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET.

B. The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following:

                (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)

                (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or

                (iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

Note : The Academic score as specified in Appendix II(Table 3A) for Universities in UGC Regulations 2018 shall be considered for short-listing of the candidates for interview only, and the selections shall be based only on the performance in the interview.

Completed application form, accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs.200/- drawn in favour of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi should reach the office of Assistant Registrar (Admn.), Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Aruna Asaf Ali Road, JNU New Campus, New Delhi 110 067 latest by 5.00 p.m. of 15th January, 2021.

Important Instructions:–

1. Candidates who had applied in response to IIMC’s Advertisement and Corrigendum to the said Advertisement are not required to apply again since their applications will be considered along with the applications which will be received in response to the present Advertisement.
2. Separate application forms should be filled up for the posts of Associate Professor and Assistant Professor.
3. Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected.
4. No correspondence for consideration of late applications will be entertained.
5. Qualifications and other conditions applicable are subject to UGC Regulations, 2018, as amended from time to time.
6. Relaxation in educational qualifications, experience, age, etc. to the reserved category candidates will be permissible as per UGC/Government of India instructions.
7. Certificates for reservation should be in the format prescribed by Government of India for this purpose.
8. The Institute reserves the right not to fill-up all or any of the vacancies advertised, if the circumstances so warrant.
9. Any dispute arising in the matter of filling up of the advertised vacancies will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Delhi.
