🎓 Required Qualifications

  • Graduate with B.Ed. in Special Education
    OR

  • B.Ed. (General) with a recognised 1-year / 2-year Diploma in Special Education
    OR

  • Any other RCI-approved qualification for Special Educators at Secondary/Senior Secondary level

  • Mandatory: RCI registration with a valid CRR number

  • Desirable:

    • Experience working as a Special Educator in CBSE/recognised schools

    • Good understanding of inclusive education, CWSN provisions, and classroom accommodations

🎯 Role Purpose

The Special Educator will support the meaningful inclusion of Children With Special Needs (CWSN) by providing specialised intervention, remedial teaching, classroom support, and guidance to teachers and parents. The role aligns with CBSE’s Inclusive Education guidelines and national disability laws.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

1. Identification & Assessment

  • Support early identification of learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, sensory needs, and developmental challenges

  • Use observations, screening tools, and assessments to understand student needs

  • Maintain student profiles and functional assessments to plan suitable interventions

2. Individualised Education Plans (IEP)

  • Create, implement, and review IEPs with specific academic, behavioural, and functional goals

  • Collaborate with teachers, counsellors, and parents to ensure classroom alignment with IEP objectives

3. Classroom Support & Remedial Interventions

  • Provide in-class support and pull-out remedial sessions for reading, writing, numeracy, attention, and skill development

  • Suggest curriculum adaptations, differentiated strategies, and appropriate teaching–learning materials

  • Support teachers in inclusive classroom practices

4. CWSN Provisions (CBSE Compliance)

  • Guide parents and school staff on CBSE/government provisions:

    • Concessions

    • Accommodations

    • Exemptions

    • Extra time

    • Scribe/reader rules

  • Assist with documentation for board exams and disability certification

5. Teacher & Parent Capacity-Building

  • Conduct workshops and trainings for teachers on inclusive practices and behaviour management

  • Provide parents with counselling, home-support strategies, and referrals for therapy when needed

  • Maintain sensitivity and confidentiality in all communication

6. Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with the School Counsellor, Class Teachers, Exam Department, and Management

  • Maintain accurate records—IEPs, progress reports, intervention logs

  • Submit periodic reports to the Principal while protecting student confidentiality
