Lecturer – Values Education & Student Counselling

📘 Job Summary:

The Lecturer for Values Education & Student Counselling will teach ethics, life skills, and moral values while offering personal, academic, and emotional guidance to students. The role focuses on holistic student development, emotional well-being, and value-based education.

📝 Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching

  • Deliver courses on values education, ethics, soft skills, and personal development.

  • Prepare and execute lesson plans as per institutional SOPs.

  • Promote ethical reasoning, empathy, and critical thinking.

2. Student Counselling & Mentorship

  • Provide individual and group counselling for academic, behavioural, and emotional concerns.

  • Offer crisis intervention and refer students to external specialists when required.

  • Conduct orientation programs for new students.

  • Maintain confidential counselling documentation.

3. Institutional Support

  • Work with faculty to identify and support at-risk students.

  • Assist disciplinary committees, anti-ragging initiatives, and grievance redressal.

  • Promote mental health awareness, inclusion, and student wellness.

4. Research & Professional Development

  • Stay updated on counselling practices, educational psychology, and pedagogy.

  • Participate in workshops, FDPs, and professional development programs.

🎓 Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology / Counselling / Education (specialization in values or ethics).

  • 3–5 years teaching experience (preferably in higher education).

  • Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Certification in REBT, CBT, NLP, or related counselling methods.

  • Experience in career counselling, youth mentorship, or conflict resolution.

  • Familiarity with Indian value systems, NEP 2020, and OBE frameworks.

  • Proficiency in relevant regional languages (added advantage).
