MEd in special education among 6 new programmes launched at Guru Gobind Singh IP University

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University New Delhi on Wednesday 2, March 2022 announced six new programmes from the upcoming academic session, including M.Ed in special education (intellectual disabilities), which will concentrate on people with special needs.
Among the other courses are B.Design in industrial, interactive and interior design, apart from masters programmes for industrial and interior design. Officials said the programmes will have 30 seats each.
The university also said that apart from courses for which exams like JEE, NEET and CAT are considered, it will conduct a Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions.
“The university will conduct computer-based entrance tests for admissions to 50 academic programmes at eight-country cities, including Delhi-NCR. The application, entrance test and counselling will be online. The syllabus of all entrance examinations is also provided in the educational brochure. Students are also advised to go through the website for updates regularly,” said vice-chancellor Dr Mahesh Verma.
Verma also highlighted that supernumerary seats are reserved for international students who are not required to appear for any entrance test.
Stating that the university was also adopting guidelines mentioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Verma said, “Important aspects of the NEP like entrepreneurial mindset, human values and ethics and environmental science have been adopted as mandatory courses at the undergraduate level and as optional courses at the post-graduate level,” adding that a School of Liberal Arts will also be established soon.
“Industry linkages are also being made with an emphasis on skill-based programmes. In the past few years, emphasis has also been laid on placements and over 8,000 students have been placed with an average package of Rs. 6.25 lakh per annum,” Verma said.
The vice-chancellor added, “Apart from this, around Rs 40 crore has been earmarked for upgrading the current infrastructure and we are also in talks with the DDA to set up a college for medical sciences in Dwarka.”  (Source TOI)
